One thing that is bound to hit the core of your concern, of course, is the issue of transport. These normal upcountry automotive will definitely not make it out there. Considering that there are neither tarmacs nor good roads in the country side, you should begin to opt for a better automotive. One that is adapted to handling such tough situations with the least of strains. If you have been having trouble with off-road vehicle and driving then, this article might be of use to you. It seeks to take you through some of the basic knowledge and issues to do with off-road driving by providing you with the features that come with suitable off-road vehicles.

What are some of the features involved?

Adjustable Suspension

If someone out the has ever told you that you do not need adjustable suspension for an off-road ride, you should consider it as a lie. Adjustable suspensions help a lot in ragged driving conditions. You must have considered that most of the modern and luxury models of the vehicle come along with adjustable suspensions that help them to raise and lower at will and depending on the conditions of the road. Modern tarmacs, of course, can do well with low SUV but considering a situation that the level of the grounds you are driving in is rugged, you should opt for a lifted SUV lest you run into the risk of damaging the lower sides of your vehicle and incurring in undue cost.

Crawl Control

This yet another feature that is so characteristic of off-road driving. It is a feature that is very common to modern high-end Toyota. The benefit that comes with this feature is that it allows for automatic control of the forward drives in an off-road situation. What it does is that it considers the situation of the terrains of the road and then as a way of diagnosing it, it dictates the amount of power and braking that it equips to the wheels. It is good to consider that this is an automatic mechanism and what you as the driver have to do is to basically steer the vehicle on. It gives you a notch advantage to deal with off-road situations.

Locking Differential

This is a feature of off-road vehicle that has to do with the motion of the wheels. This is what most modern vehicles come about with. It involves a feature called lockers and what these lockers do is that they stops the wheels from spinning and instead gives it the force to turn unanimously. When both wheels have got equal turning power what happens is that you stand a better chance of overcoming very critical off-road conditions. Some situations of the roads will make one wheel to have better traction over the other and what happens is that the vehicles can stick in muddy situations. These lockers sometimes come in a set one for the rear wheels and the other for the front wheels. This is much better than having one, of course, considering the nature of off-road extremity.

In off-roading situations as well, it is commonly advisable to carry along two hooks with you, and normally, you should not be travelling alone in such conditions. There are instances where you want your travelling partner to pull you out of the mud.

The Many Benefits Of Fleet Management GPS

The modern technology that comes standard on many vehicles makes life easier for the owners. GPS guides truckers through unknown territories, informs them of needed businesses and services, and allows them to find the quickest and easiest routes to travel. If you are a business owner with many vehicles to manage, GPS can be more valuable for you. If many vehicles are needed to provide your customers with services, fleet tracking and management can improve your company’s productivity and efficiency as well as save your company time and money. Whether you company uses cars, trucks, trains, buses or aircraft, fleet management systems can provide real time data such as location and other valuable telemetric information including driver behavior, number of vehicles in the field, fuel consumption and the best routes for vehicles to take. Having such data on hand improves the company’s ability to schedule deliveries, dispatch their vehicles where needed and receive reports about how the vehicle is functioning. The company can easily inform drivers and operators of traffic condition and make real time changes that will improve productivity and cost efficiency. Fleet management systems are used by all business sectors, corporations, service companies and governments to manage fleets more efficiently and effectively. It also makes it easier to find stolen vehicles and equipment faster. All vehicles in a fleet can be seen on a map at any given moment and reports are readily available for quick decision making.

Fleet management systems also make it easier to schedule routine maintenance on vehicles and perform diagnostics during field performance. Fleet management also results in saving in lives as well as quicker dispatching of emergency vehicles including medical and law enforcement. Whether a company buys the software and equipment and install it themselves or use a professional service to obtain the equipment, software and other services, the results is that the company runs more smoothly, becomes more productive and operate at greater efficiency. The benefits include minimized risks, better time and staff management, cost savings due to efficiency. Data about the fleet is sent through a satellite or cellular network, the company receives and generates reports, decisions are made in real time and the data can be viewed over different time intervals to give the company a snapshot to make future improvements. Companies can ascertain which vehicles need maintenance or replacement, which drivers are the most productive and safest, and there is increased security and control over vehicles and cargo. The telemetric data may include when the doors of a vehicle open and close, whether the engine is idling or in use, tire pressure, hard or soft breaking, and information from the vehicle lights and battery. Whether the vehicle is used in public transportation, functioning as an emergency response vehicle or working in service or delivery, this information is collected, transmitted, used to generate reports and the company uses it to improve their operations and productivity.

This technology is used by all size companies to improve their business operations through better management of people, equipment and real time decision making. The difference between LED and HID lights

We all would love to be driving a beautifully pimped vehicle at one instance in life. Hitting the off roads with an heightened swagger and feeling the confidence and of a vehicle that has been so well kept and maintained. Well, technology has given you this opportunity and has come out with the technology of what is called LED light bars. These light bars come in varying scales of wattage, voltage and inches. They help give your car have that aesthetic look and at the same time increase the illumination that the other lights for examples the head lights have on the road. What happens when we are driving in very dim light without extra illumination is that we are predisposing ourselves to great risks of accidents and as if that is not enough, there is a real chance that you are going to have a real rough ride and the chances of damaging other parts of the vehicle are very high. This article will take you through two types of light bars and compares them so that the next time you go to the market to purchase on you will be having the full knowledge of what you are looking for

Comparison between LED and HID lights

It is good to first of all realize that LED light bars have been for a length of time accorded higher popularity and has been considered to be more quality than the other. Here is the comparison of common traits between the LED and HID light bars:
First of all, it has been considered that LED emits lower intensity of heat as compared to HID. This is due to the fact that it uses less battery power in terms of voltage. What happens when bar light doesn’t emit a lot of heat is that it is bound not to affect the surrounding areas of the light, and you run a lower risk of incurring an undue cost of repair and purchase of materials. And more so, they do not burn their filament out more easily than the one that produces an intense amount of heat.

They have also been considered to be more eco-friendly. What happens in this case, therefore, is the fact that they pose less danger to those working with it to the environment generally. It is very advisable to note that however much we would wish to have our vehicles ‘illumination heightened we should also consider the impact it has on the environment and on our bodies. The two combined, LED has received a better acknowledgement because it poses absolutely no effect on the environment.

The issue of how long it lasts as well is something we all look for in any other commodity we purchase around town. Between the two, it has been realized that LED lasts much longer than HID.so basically it implies that you won’t be going to purchase the same commodity on a constant basis and thus saves you on the finances. The reason behind this is the fact that LED doesn’t subject its filament to extreme heat like HID does, and their filaments doesn’t burn out leading to eventual malfunctioning.

In general terms therefore it is advisable that you for LED because evidence has demonstrated that it is more functional and friendly in terms of finances and environment. Hit the off-roads with a swagger and with a cost effective bar light with the advancement of technology.

What Is Off- Roading?

DCF 1.0

DCF 1.0

The definition of off-roading is “the activity of driving or riding a vehicle on unsurfaced roads or tracks, made of materials such as sand, gravel, riverbeds, mud, snow, rocks, and other natural terrain.” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Off-roading)

Off-road vehicles came into existence during World War II. The Jeeps used during the war became available to the public after the war was over and people used them for utility vehicles. This was the beginning of using the vehicles as a hobby. The Jeeps did not last and soon the manufacturer was remaking the Jeep to withstand harsher conditions. As the years passed, the off-road vehicle got more and more popular and all of the car manufacturers got in the money game by adding their own off-road vehicles.

The off-road vehicle has certain requirements that it must have to travel over the rough terrain it is known for. They all normally have 4 wheel drive which enables them to have traction on slippery surfaces. To operate correctly they have to have a low ground pressure so that they will not sink into soft ground. Wheel choice versus tracks are compared by cost and suitability. Track drive-trains are more expensive to produce and to maintain. Wheeled drive-trains are cheaper and give a higher speed availability, though the tracked drive-train has a greater off-road capability.

Environmentally, these off-road vehicles have been accused of causing not only noise pollution but in omitting air and land pollution, as well as major problems with protected wildlife.

You can take classes to learn the proper guidelines to off-roading. This will enable you to learn to drive your own off-road vehicle with confidence in different situations. Everyone starts with the beginners class no matter if you feel you are an expert or not. They go through everything with you and leave nothing to chance. It is to any off-roadie hopeful or experienced to take these classes.

Always be prepared. Check your vehicle out before going off-road. Battery fastened, hoses in good condition, oil and fluids topped off, including making sure you have enough fuel are all extremely important procedures. Check tires and make sure they have proper tire pressure. Never, never travel alone especially to areas that you are not familiar with. Speed and power are not really required in off-roading. Low speed is the norm and skill is the focus, not speed.

There are a list of 10 off-road vehicles that are now for sale and frankly, they do not come cheap, but you get high quality and durability on every one of these units. They are as follows:
Jeep Rangler Rubicon
Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro
Nissan Xterra Pro-4X
Toyota Land Cruiser
RamPower Wagon
Chevy Colorado Z/71
Ford Raptor
Land Rover Range Rover
Ford Super Duty Truck
Mercedes-Benz G500

Off-roading can be a challenge to even the experienced driver. Take your time and go slow. Be aware of your surroundings and take safety precautions seriously, but always be prepared to have the time of your life.

Off-Roading Preparation

offroading preparation

Many people enjoy going off-roading. This is when a person takes their jeep out to a rocky road of mud path and has some fun. The first thing that a person needs to go off-roading is a decent jeep. Older models tend to be better and it is not big deal if they get dirty.
Before heading off to the trail there are things that a person should bring along. They include an extra quart of oil, a spare tire, and some water. While most jeeps can handle the rugged terrain these supplies are good to have just in case. An extra set of clothing may be hand too. Be sure there is a full tank of gas as well.
If a person has never been off-roading before it is best to start out slowly. Old mountain bike trails are usually pretty good. This will help a person learn how to take control of the jeep. Before driving make sure everything is tired down and the spare tire is secure. At this time it is best to put the jeep into the 4 all wheel drive option.
In addition to 4 wheel drive there are some other features on the jeep that the driver should become familiar with. This includes the dirt lock that the jeep can handle. A person should learn the speed at which the wheels of the jeep are going to turn. This will help them handle uneven or loose roads. When the wheels are locked they all move at the same speed. This feature can be helpful if the jeep were to get stuck. The driver should also learn the approach angle. This is the maximum include angle that the jeep can handle without anything getting broken or damaged. The wheelbase is the distance from the front when to the middle of the rear wheel. This can also be helpful to know before the driver gets stuck.
Have fun and enjoy the trail. The driver has to be on the lookout for some things. They should keep an eye out for large rocks. While the jeep has no problem going over smaller rocks or rugged areas large rocks can do some damage. If the rock is too big it can crack the oil pan and that will be a big problem. When in doubt go around rocks that look like they are too big. For beginners it may be useful to stay on the sand or some gravel . Attempting to handle a course that it too rough can be dangerous.
These are just some tips to make off-roading a fun experience. While many people enjoy it off-roading can get to be a little dangerous. Be sure to get familiar with the area, be prepared, and have some fun.

Off-road Rollover Accidents – What to do and how to prepare for the worst.

Off-road driving excursions can be exhilarating, experiencing the feeling of freedom to your destination. Unfortunately, accidents do happen and off-road rollover accidents occur at a high frequency. With proper planning and keeping some life saving safety tips in mind, you can enjoy all that off-road driving has to offer without the rollover.

The vehicle you own(whether it’s a jeep, truck or SUV), may be designed for off-road recreations but that doesn’t mean you’re sitting inside a sixty ton tank. In other words, drive carefully and please wear a seat belt. These particular vehicles are already known for their weak stability so watch the weight of anything that you’re bringing with you including extra passengers and make sure everything is put away into the glove box or tied down.

Two is better than one isn’t a reference to the arm candy sitting on the passenger side that you’re trying to impress, rather it’s a hint for you to bring another vehicle and driver. The backup vehicle is essential for extra supplies, lookout and in an emergency, a ride home. At the very least, let someone know where you will be off-road and what your destination is.

An off-road kit and a spare tire with a tire iron may be enough for that trip on the highway but you want to be prepared for the emergency scenarios you could face when off-road. Tires will lose trending quicker off-road so try to fit at least two actual ready to go tires, rather than the spare, into the vehicle. Having a decent jack helps as well as an air compressor and some decent tools. Don’t forget the off-road kit and of course, a few cell phones.

Familiarize yourself with the terrain that you will be traveling off-road. Knowledge will allow you to better plan for the proper weight in the tires and whether the vehicle sits high enough to clear any obstacles. Even though the purpose of the trip is to travel the road less traveled, try to stay close to cell reception towers and always know your way back. If you have to go off the reservation then make sure to have plenty of food, water and any outdoor gear you can manage to assist in the hike home.

So now that everything is ready, it’s time to do some off-road driving. Then it happens, despite all the preparations, your vehicle has rolled over. When the you’re in the middle of the accident and thoughts are running a mile a minute, it can be difficult to keep track of what’s happening. However, it’s that attentiveness that can be the difference in saving lives.

When you feel the vehicle tipping be sure to let go of the wheel and tuck both feet against your seat. Crossing your arms and sitting back into the seat will help prevent unnecessary injuries.

Once the vehicle has come to a full stop, remain calm. Check for any injuries for yourself and any other passengers. Check for any sharp edges, broken glass or objects that can cause further injury. Carefully prop yourself up above your head and remove your seat belt. Assist any other passengers and exit the vehicle.

Worst case scenario, someone has been injured. Contact On Star or the like if you have it in your vehicle otherwise, call 911 for assistance. If you are trying to the roll the vehicle back over, do so carefully. Take into consideration the weight of the vehicle and how firm the ground is. If you smell gasoline, stay a safe distance away from the vehicle and wait for assistance.

Off-Road Driving Basics

There is nothing quite like the thrill of driving off of the beaten path to blaze your own trail. For a safe trip that is fun for everybody it is important to go through the basic precautions before any serious off-road driving.

First Things First

Know your vehicle and what it is and is not capable of. This will keep you from being “That Guy” or girl who gets his or her big bad truck stuck in the mud. Read the manual that comes with your vehicle and if you don’t have it anymore get one. It is paramount to know what your rig can do. It is also good to know in general.

Prepare Your Vehicle

Wherever you plan on going to the terrain is different everywhere due to whether patterns land formations ect. so preparing is key to an easy time. Does your destination have a lot of streams to cross? Any river beds? Heavy rocky terrain to drive over at all? These are just a few things to ask yourself about where you are headed. Prepare in the best way for your specific location. Bring a raft or canoe if there are potential rivers and streams as hazards for example. Spare tires and many other ways you can be a lot more well suited for ant thing that may happen.

Go As A Group

Going on any off road trip is a terrible idea to do solo. Even a short trip can be your last if something happens to you with no one around. So be smart and find some friends who want to off-road with you. There really is no point to risking your life for some fun when you don’t need to. It is not uncommon for off-road accidents so best to not risk it.

Inspect Your Vehicle

This one goes hand in hand with knowing your automobile. Having it inspected or doing this yourself (if you are able) is yet another way to ensure less chance of a problem. How high is your ground clearance for example? You do not want to find this one out on a mountain side. Are your headlights acceptably bright for the heavily wooded areas? Does your vehicle come with a roadside kit? Not only the height but also the width of your wheelbase is VERY necessary to know on many of these trails.

There are many more examples to consider for this category. These are just the basics here. Every vehicle has different things to consider as well. Some have strengths where others might not and so forth.

Know Your Gears And How To Use Them

Your Gears in your vehicle and the way that you engage them off-road are key to an accident free experience. The way you time your shifting is paramount to safe traversal of many trails for off-road driving. Also pay attention to things like “Jeep Trail” signs that are posted before entering a particularly difficult trail. These signs are posted to give the driver a chance to consider turning back. If you are not absolutely certain of your vehicle, it is best to not.

The grade of the trail coupled with changing whether conditions could mean life or death depending on the vehicle. So don’t be a show off. Just stay alive so you can keep having fun off-road.
In the end being prepared is the number one thing that you can do to make your driving experience a blast for everybody. There are so many off-road vehicles it is up to us to do the research of the destinations and our automobiles as well. After all, when we have a map for the trip and the right machine for the climb there is nothing like leaving the road for a bit of excitement.

Happy Trails.

How to Maintain Safety For the Best Offroading Experience

Offroad driving is currently gaining momentum as a popular outdoor activity. It is no wonder why this sport is acquiring followers from adventurers everywhere. With today’s hectic lifestyles, there is nothing more satisfying than going out into nature and exploring the great outdoors on a path less traveled. Off-roading provides fun and excitement while giving you the opportunity to play and take in the beauty of our natural surroundings. All within just a few hours drive. But, what should you do to maintain the safest and most enjoyable four wheeling experience?

First of all, let someone know where you will be heading. Let them know when to expect you home from your trip every single time you go out offroading. Remember in many areas your cellphone and GPS will not have service. That way, should something unexpected happen to you while out on the trails, friends and family will be able to alert the authorities as to your location.

Always wear your seat belt and make safe choices. Many times serious injury could have been avoided by just following this simple rule. You need to wear your seat belt at all times, just as you would on the road. Should you hit something, you and your passengers can be thrown or jostled from your vehicle and be injured easily without a seat belt. Keep looking ahead of the vehicle and visualize a path that you will follow with your tires. Drive with both of your feet. Unlike driving on the road, you will need to drive with both feet on the pedals for faster response time and safety.

Get to know your vehicle. Look under your vehicle to see where any low hanging parts may be hanging so that you may avoid damaging them. Pack your vehicle for emergencies. Make sure that you bring water, a first aid kit and any necessary tools for fixing your vehicle should you have any problems. Make sure all of your gear is tied down and secure. Any tools or even a loose water bottle can cause severe harm or even death on impact.

Get out there and really look around. Don’t just plow thru what could be difficult terrain. Scout your path whenever necessary. Make sure you know what is over the next hill to avoid any unanticipated surprises. Injuries can be easily avoided by being prepared for the next turn, slope or hill. So learn your angles. Really study your departure and approach angles in your line of vision to maintain a safe and fun ride.

Arms and legs should remain in the vehicle at all times. Arms and legs are at risk should you run into a narrow passage, or a tree or rock. Rollovers are always a danger, so keep all limbs inside. Never hang on your vehicle either. Never try to pull down a vehicle that is dangerously positioned. Always Stand clear of your vehicle when needing to retrieve it from a vicarious situation.

To fully enjoy the challenge of offroading while maintaining safety, always be prepared.
Practice patience while driving and use solid driving techniques. A good off-roading experience is only fun if everyone comes back in one piece.

Offroading With the Family

The big muddy wheels hit the shallow creek throwing water over the top of the four wheel drive truck. The kids squealed as the cold water flew through the open windows. The kids bounced as the jeep bumped over the jagged slate rock. I watched to make sure the girls were snug in the safety seats. At six my youngest girl was 4 foot 5 inches. My eight year old was 4 foot two inches. The way she was growing she wouldn’t need a safety seat for much longer.

They loved the woods as much as I did. We stopped as a doe and her baby drink at the edge of the creek. I took a picture and because of the darkness of the over hanging tree branches the automatic flash went off. The mother deer through her head up. The last thing we saw of them was their tails flashing white as they jumped over brush and disappeared.

We found a deep cool pool to take an afternoon swim. Then we had a picnic on a green grassy bank. We made our way home by dust, happy and tired talking about our adventure. We couldn’t have had such a nice day if we hadn’t had our offroad vehicle.

When Monday came and I was back at work and my kids were back at school I wore a smile, because I was already planning where we’d be going he next adventure.

Offroading can be fun if you have a sturdy safe vehicle that has safety features such as safety belt, seats and a roll bar inside the cab. If your going to climb steep hills you need the role bar because it doesn’t matter how good you drive. If you hit a rough patch you could sill roll the vehicle.

Offroading comes second nature to us country folk but people from the cities can learn to love this way of getting about. If you like to camp out a four wheel drive is just what you need to get to lovely areas and camping areas.

When you buy an offroad vehicle make sure you check to see if it has all the safety features. Also check to make sure you have the right tires that can dig rocks, mud and hold you to the ground. Where you choose trucks or four wheeler make sure they are used safely.

Get out there and enjoy the earth by going to wild untamed places. Fish in deep cool rivers, swim in lakes, camp in beautiful woodland country sides and walk in fields of daisies. The best way to get there is by four wheeling.

It doesn’t mater what name your vehicle wears though some of the sellers might tell you different. Just look for value, quality and safety. Where your running with your family or your buddies buckle up and e safe.
